The new building of Longgang Mosque, a new highlight of Taiwan’s Islamic culture, was completed

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan went to the Longgang Mosque on the afternoon of November 15th to attend the "Opening Ceremony of the New Building of Taoyuan Longgang Mosque." He stated that Longgang Mosque was founded in 1964. At that time, with the support of enthusiastic Muslims, the land was purchased to build the mosque. After many expansions, the mosque had its current scale for local Muslims to gather for prayer. The new building of Longgang Mosque is an Islamic-style building. During its construction, it was sponsored by many Muslims. The Mayor believes that their kind intention will allow more people to understand Islamic culture and make Longgang Mosque a highlight of Islamic culture in Taiwan.

Mayor Cheng pointed out that with the increase of new immigrants and foreign migrant workers, many foreign migrant workers in Taoyuan would go to Longgang Mosque to meet and pray during Eid al-Fitr and other events. The Longgang Rice Noodle Festival or Yunnan cultural activities also brought many Muslims from remote areas to the Longgang area for activities. Therefore, Longgang Mosque has become a significant cultural landmark of Taoyuan and one of the important places of the Islamic faith.

Mayor Cheng thanked Longgang Mosque and local groups for their contributions to many Muslims in Taiwan. Under the leadership of Chairman Ma of Longgang Mosque, local culture gradually merged with the mosque. Mayor Cheng shared that there are kind and compassionate hearts that aims to bring the greatest comfort and support to believers in every religious culture. The Islamic culture is all over Asia. Although the number of people who believe in Islam in Taiwan is relatively small, the pious hearts of Muslims show no difference. Especially during the Eid Al-Fitr in Taoyuan, people can also witness the profound and religious culture.
