Deputy Mayor Wang Ming-Jiuh attended the performance press conference of “One Food Safety Volunteer in One Enterprise” on the morning of November 29. Deputy Mayor Wang stated that in recent years, food safety issues have been receiving increasing attention. Besides the previous egg safety incident, parents have become more concerned about the quality and safety of food ingredients since the city government initiated the “Free Nutritional Lunches in Elementary and Junior High Schools” policy. Alongside campus food safety, the city government highly values food safety management in enterprises. Therefore, this year, the Department of Public Health led the nation in promoting the “One Food Safety Volunteer in One Enterprise” project. The program involves training catering managers in enterprises to join the ranks of food safety volunteers. It has provided on-site guidance to optimize meal service hygiene in 119 companies with over 300 employees each, safeguarding the meal safety of over 120,000 employees. The aim is to encourage businesses to prioritize food safety and inspire more companies to join the food safety volunteer program.

Deputy Mayor Wang emphasized that prioritizing food safety is the first step in the city government’s efforts to safeguard food security. In the future, the city government and the Department of Public Health will continue to enhance related programs, expand guidance to more businesses, and incorporate aspects related to food nutrition, allowing the scope of food safety protection to grow continuously. This initiative ensures that all residents can eat safely and nutritiously.

Today, Deputy Mayor Wang presented the “Enterprise Food Safety Volunteer Award” and the “Enterprise Catering Excellence Award” to recognize companies’ efforts in food safety volunteering and meal provision, showcasing their dedication to safeguarding food safety.
