Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-Cheng presided over a municipal meeting this morning (August 16), where he announced that he and colleagues from the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Youth, and the Department of Education, will be heading to various locations in California, USA, including Silicon Valley and Los Angeles, this coming weekend. The delegation is scheduled to depart on August 18 and return to Taiwan on August 25. The purpose of the trip is to engage in visits and exchanges focusing on three major topics: investment promotion, youth entrepreneurship, and information education. Mayor Chang hopes that the participating departments will benefit from the experience and gain valuable insights that will help advance the city’s policies and initiatives.
Mayor Chang explained that during this trip, the Department of Economic Development is planning to visit the “Monte Jade Science & Technology Association” in Silicon Valley to introduce investment opportunities in Taoyuan to local Chinese entrepreneurs and provide information on investment promotion. The Department of Youth will visit a prominent startup accelerator in Silicon Valley to gain inspiration for further promoting youth entrepreneurship in Taoyuan.
Director-general Luo Chu-Dong of the Department of Public Information stated that the visit is organized by the Department of Economic Development and will include meetings with San Bernardino County, Taoyuan’s sister city, to discuss cooperation initiatives in transportation hubs, international airport free trade zones, economic development, transportation, and infrastructure projects.
Regarding the business and association itinerary, Director-general Luo mentioned that the delegation plans to visit Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Plug & Play Ventures accelerator, and 500 Global, among others. Additionally, with the assistance of local representative offices, they will host investment promotion seminars to introduce Taoyuan’s investment environment and policy directions. The delegation will also attend a business networking dinner hosted by the Monte Jade Science & Technology Association in Southern California to showcase Taoyuan’s strengths in entrepreneurship and investment.
