Interpretation services
I. As the newcomers who are not familiar with local medical system and suffer from communication problems, foreign spouses often avoid seeking treatment in hospitals, despite their needs for professional medical service to handle critical issues such as maternity and infant care. The language barrier also reduces the medical service quality, making interpretation a crucial part in health care system.
In addition to the counseling services provided by the Department of Public Health that offer new immigrants with health care and welfare information, we provide interpretation service for reproductive health issues throughout 13 public health centers. The service includes:
1. Supporting the Well-baby Clinics and vaccination services in public health centers, such as assisting foreign spouses to fill in the forms, measuring babies’ heights and weights, interpretation for clinics, and assisting vaccination tasks.
2. Household cases management: To accompany the public health nurses when visiting foreign spouses who are newly-wed, pregnant, or postpartum; or to assist in other cases that need health care, such as expectant mothers without routine prenatal visits, or infants and children without regular check-ups.
3. Interpretation services for activities such as health fairs, seminars, public health campaigns, and women’s health examination events for new residents.
4. Supporting medical personnel to refer foreign spouses and their children to facilities for proper treatment upon discovering problems.
5. Translation of the teaching materials covering health education and health management for foreign spouses.
6. Assisting the health survey of foreign spouses.
II. Service locations: The 13 public health centers of the districts in Taoyuan city.
13 Public Health Centers
To promote and enhance public health, the Department of Public Health of Taoyuan has 13 public health centers that provide the following services:
(1) Medical Service: For clinic service, health examination, mobile medical service, emergency medical service, and medical experiment.
(2) Health Promotion: For public health nursing, women and children's hygiene, family planning, hygiene education, and disease prevention.
(3) Health Administration: For food safety, occupational and operational health management,medical affairs, and pharmaceutical affairs.
