Dengue fever, also known as break-bone fever or “Tenku fever” in Taiwan, is a mosquito-borne viral infection transmitted by Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti. Symptoms of Dengue include a high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains, and skin rash. Classified by their antigens, there are 4 distinct serotypes of the virus that cause dengue (DEN-I, DEN-II, DEN-III and DEN-IV).
