Why do the children who have been infected with enterovirus may still be infected again?

  • Release Unit:Department of Public Health

There are many types of enterovirus, and currently more than 60 types have been found. After a person has been infected with a certain type of enterovirus, the person only has immunity against a certain type of enterovirus. Afterwards, when being infected with another type of enterovirus, the previously produced antibodies cannot be the protection, and the person may still be infected.
